Sri Lanka is an island country in South Asia, located in the Indian Ocean to the southwest of the Bay of Bengal and to the southeast of the Arabian Sea. It hangs like a pearl from the southern tip of India. The Other Corner resort is located within the cultural triangle in the Anuradhapura district. Built on a sprawling spread of approximately 5 acres, about 5 minutes drive from the town of Habarana, the resort is a place of rare beauty and tranquility. The fact that there are no barriers or fences (to preserve natural trails and to reduce as much as possible the effect of encroaching on nature) erected around The Other Corner in no way diminishes the sense of solitude and peace one feels. The natural surroundings of the resort, bordering the Habarana Lake, are filled with a large variety of diverse species. Commonly seen are the elephants who stride majestically through the area. Also in abundance are various amphibians and mammals. The birds frequent the gardens and needless to say it is a butterfly haven.Services:
Along with the basic comforts of life that we take for granted like pipe borne water & electricity, the Lodge & all chalets are air-conditioned as well as fitted with modern toilets & bathrooms, tea-coffee service and a mini fridge. Meals provided range from local rice & curries to a wide array of international cuisine. Private dining is also provided on request. Out-door barbecues and dining under the stars are a highlight. You can opt to dine on your private back-patio or in our open concept restaurant which has a 28 person seating capacity. Guests also have the privilege of visiting our vegetable garden & hand picking produce to be cooked to order by our chefs or opt to have a cooking class where guests will also receive the recipes to take away. We also boast of a wide choice of international beer and wines. Free wireless internet facilities are available throughout the resort. Birding and Photo Tours are organised on request and the small pool is idyllic for relaxing after a long day of excursions.Guestrooms:
The Other Corner offers many types of accommodation to suit your needs. The Ground Floor Chalets come with the option of additional beds for triple bookings and have both a front & back patio. The Twin Chalets, can be booked separately for 3-4 persons and also have inter-connecting doors to function as one unit if you are a large group. The spacious toilets have both sunken baths as well as walk-in open showers. The Tree Cottages provide another unique room choice. They are perched above the ground to resemble tree-house style living have a wood-finish exterior and interior and are equipped with the same amenities as the other chalets. The cottages are strategically built to blend in with the background of the unspoilt jungle, making it a birder’s delight. A duplex Tree Cottage unit has a small stair case connecting from within the rooms which is ideal when traveling with large families. The Lodge houses two family rooms with attached bathrooms and have inter-connecting doors to accommodate up to 7 guests...
